have your photography published in W magazine.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I love photography. I love it a lot. I love it almost as much as I love food. You should be aware of my love of visual stimulation, especially if you read this blog on the regular. Recently I bought a fancy SLR camera so that I could find my inner Hedi Slimane, and haven't been able to put it down. For those of you creative enough to capture vivid and thought provoking images, W Magazine is sponsoring their first ever photography contest W: The Art Project which is aimed at uncovering the next big thing.

Those who enter must capture the theme 'obsession' (celebrity maybe?) and can submit their work online until December 1st. If you're lucky enough to be the winner, not only will your work be published in W, you'll also receive a new camera and a three month consultation with art consultant Blair Voltz Clark.

Even though I couldn't imagine entering this contest, I posted it because it was a great excuse to use this W Magazine cover of Ginnifer Goodwin. Love. Her...

sonia rykiel for h&m.

Photobucket
Please excuse my shitty photoshop skills. I'm sorry for my suckage. Moving on.

H&M sure keeps retail exciting with their constant collaborations with legendary designers. This year alone H&M has invited the likes of Matthew Williamson and Jimmy Choo to create collections for the popular retailer, many of their designs sellout within minutes. They really know how to bring high fashion to the masses, and with their recent announcement that their adding Sonia Rykiel to their laundry list of designer collections, it seems like they aren't stopping any time soon.

Today H&M announced that the french brand made famous for it's name sakes perfection of knitwear, Sonia Rykiel, will be next up to guest design for the retailer in two installments, one for winter 2009 and another for spring 2010. Winter 09 Sonia will bring us lingerie, and in the spring knitwear for women and girls. Rykiel's lingerie line is to be sold in 1,500 stores worldwide and Sonia Rykiel boutiques beginning December 5th, and the spring collection hits stores February 20, 2010 in 250 H&M stores.

Can. Not. Wait.

ashish spring 2010.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Sequins to Ashish Gupta are what air is to those of us breathing on a regular basis: their essential to life. He creates the most ridiculously loud and obnoxious clothing I can only pull off in my dreams, but that doesn't make me love the designer and his label any less. His Spring collection was based around tourism, although the Nike influence does have me thrown a bit. Not sure what that has to do with tourism. It would have been amazing to see a I ♥ NYC shirt!

This just reminds me of how much I wanted his leopard print green and pink sequined harem pants from his Fall/Winter 09 collection REALLY bad. Seeing as the global economy is going to shit, people are still losing their jobs, oh yea, and the fact that I'm POOR, the chances of me even touching them is rather slim.

But that Just Do It shirt WILL BE MINE. Mark my words!

what's your favorite color again?

Image and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPic
Baby Mary likes the color pink. A lot.

I just took a look at The Selby's latest installment of photos from his ongoing invasion of creative spaces and the creative people that inhabit these said places. His latest victim was that of Baby Mary, owner and buyer for Faline the uber hip boutique of choice to Japans cool kids. Basically Baby Mary is one of those people I want to know. Not because she has connections or money (although I'm sure she's got both), but because her tastes in fashion include the dream team of cool with her boutique housing designers and brands like Jeremy Scott (!), Vivienne Westwood (!!), Kusbi (!!!), ALIFE (!!!!), and John Galliano (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).

Did I mention she collaborates with and is a fan of Fafi? No? (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

kindred times & future goodbyes.

Street art festivals are so intriguing to me, not only because it allows artists to collaborate and interact, but mostly because these artists often times take abandoned buildings and turn them into works of art. 'Kindred Tines & Future Goodbyes' combines the work of Israeli street artists Foma, Know Hope, Klone, and Zero Cents on an abandoned house in Tel Aviv. The artists work together, and only notify people of the location on the day of the event ensuring their ability to work in peace.

If you like street art, festivals or both I suggest checking out the Fame festival that took place in Italy this summer. I posted some pictures of a piece I liked, you can see that here. [vandalog]

Charlotte Olympia. Now & Forever. Seriously, I love this designer. Her platform is about as recognizable as the Louboutin's red sole. Get to know her! [netaporter]

I'm currently involved in a love/hate relationship with Amber Rose. On the one hand I want to love her, I want to be able to give her my heart, I want to be able to melt and cheer her on in every aspect of her rising career. But on the other hand, I don't know, it's hard. I want to laugh at her endeavor to become a runway model, and at the people who forget that her sudden rise to the top had everything to do with who grabs her ass on a regular basis (cough Kanye cough).

When I get into these tug of war battles concerning the phenomenon that is Amber Rose something comes along to push me closer to one side or the other. The last time I got into this conflict it was over her runway debut, which to me seemed like something that would have NEVER happen if she wasn't the ball tickler of choice to Kanye West. That pushed me to the hate side. Now after seeing these pictures from a recent editorial shoot with Amber as the star, I'm being forced to love her. When I say love, I mean LOVE.

Oh Amber...[contributingeditormag]

Never been one for porn unless it involved my major weakness which happens to be shoes. And let's face it, who makes porn centered around footwear? Not Jenna Jameson, although if she did I'd respect her a bit more. Umm Acne is climbing the ladder to the inner workings of my heart very quickly. Major shoe pornography going on here. MAJOR! Aside from the wedges a lot of the heels Acne created for this upcoming spring season are thinner than a pencil and higher than a kite. I hope the stiletto isn't coming back, especaially when I was just beginning to really love the chunky heel. Their so much more realistic and comfortable...::le sigh::

I know thigh high boots are suppose to be the 'in' thing this season, but booties still reign supreme in my heart. Being that I'm apart of the shorter variety of people running around I'm not entire sure I could pull off the thigh high sensation. I know the first pair are YSL's, the second, my personal favorite, are Burberry Prorsum, but I'm not sure who created the third pair. I'm down with Burberry all day, but which do you chose? I've been away for awhile, but I'm back. Wasn't very sure if I could retain the blogging mojo I had before taking this forced break, but this surprise got me out of my funk. Sort of... Here are more photos from German Vogue's 30th anniversary issue featuring my favorite Freja Beha alongside Baptiste Giaconi and Heidi Mount due out October 09. There's nothing like a bit of Freja to brighten up even my darkest of moods ::le sigh:: <-- © Kevin Clark for the reference (told you I'd give credit where it's due lol) [modelcouture]

the rudest night in music.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Kanye West effectively showed us all that he has absolutely no class.

I'm pretty sure the internet will be on fire updating you all on what took place during this years Video Music Awards. For the most part, the recaps won't be about the excellent Michael Jackson tribute performed by his sister Janet, and it won't be about Lady Gaga's disturbing rendition of "Paparazzi" either. Tomorrow your inbox's, twitter pages, blog feeds, and facebook's will all be focused on yet another of Kanye West's classless outbursts.

There is so much I could say right now but I'm pretty sure I'd come off as a judgmental bitch, so I'll end with this: If you don't challenge a person to change, they never will. Kanye West and ALL of his outbursts are unacceptable, and classless. Tonight I've read so many tweets and blog comments where people are excusing his blatant ignorance because 1) he's just Kanye and 2) they aren't into Taylor Swifts music. UNACCEPTABLE. Respect is respect.

I know that he's given away awards of his because he felt someone better deserved them, but we can't expect everyone to do that. Especially because as an artist you should be your biggest fan. Whose to say Taylor Swift thought she actually deserved that award. We shouldn't shrug off this obvious insult as "Kanye just being Kanye". If that's the case, Kanye needs to grow the fuck up. There's this little thing called tact, and he basically showed us he has none.

PS. I have so much more respect for Beyonce now than I ever have in the past. Forget how I feel about her music and her acting (cough), she's a class act for sure.

PPS. His apology is wack sauce. How do you apologize and then try to justify your actions as you just being a fan of pop culture? GTFOH!

nyfw: alexander wang - spring 2010.

Image and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPic
Umm whose been taking Alexander Wang to sporting events? Specifically football games?

That was my initial thought when I laid eyes on Alexander Wang's Spring 2010 collection. The references to sports revealed itself in subtle and not so ways. Honestly, when I saw the first look I thought about under armor and knee socks, jock straps and football helmets. Take a look at old pictures of football games circa the 1950's and 60's, and I'm pretty sure you'd feel the same way I'm feeling right now. Perplexed.

This summer, and especially going into this fall, has proven that Alexander Wang doesn't need to give a single thought to what the economy is doing. His stuff is flying of racks. While brands like Ungaro are taking drastic measures to increase their sales by adding off the wall celebrities to their payroll (like asking Lindsey Lohan to be you "artistic director". GAG), Alexander doesn't seem to need that, even though is muse and friend is the hipster queen herself, Erin Wasson.

This season, athletic inspiration and all, Alexander Wang showed us what Gap would look like on crack. Actually fashionable. I was amused by all the looks equally, but what stood out to me the most was the black varsity jacket, the asymmetrical leather shorts on Freja, and THOSE SHADES! I was looking forward to what he had to offer in the sunnies category seeing as this is the first time he's created them. I. DIE.

Overall, it's a cool collection. Despite my earlier questioning of his obvious sporting inspirations (hey, lets make football fashionable!), I'm sure I'll be placing a few items on my wish list. Like that caramel brown leather jacket, those khaki/sweat pant lovechild creation, and that sheer sweatshirt. See the longing has already begun...

nyfw: band of outsider/boy - spring 2010.

Image and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPic
You all should know by now I'm a fan of two specific things: Shoes, and Band of Outsiders. I'm pretty scatterbrained when it comes to this blog, I tend to post what I like in a moment, I don't really have one specific brand, artist, photographer, or food for that matter that I favor, I'm kind of a gumbo of creativity. Of the few brands I do favor BOY by Band of Outsiders is very high on that short list. Season after season they manage to make me want to actually buy their collection clothing. Imagining myself in a brands collection is very important to me. A lot of times I find designs that although beautiful, I could never see myself wearing, and I don't buy things I don't wear. Get it?

Thank God for Band of Outsiders' Spring 2010 collection because I'd wear everything! The loose fitting jackets, tuxedo blazers, crisp oxford shirts, even the bandage sandals....I. WANT. NOW. My favorite part of the collections is their revamped bandage skirt over a light denim baggy top. So cute!

Anyway, here are pictures from the presentation. Let me know how you feel! [coutorture]

nyfw: charlotte ronson - spring 2010.

Image and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPic
I have a confession to make. I've been sleeping on Charlotte Ronson. Partly, because she's been associated with Lindsey Lohan and I just don't entertain that hot mess, but most of it has to do with the fact that I've been underestimating her skills and ability for a long time. Not really sure if it has anything to do with her creations for Mom Jeans Inc aka JCPenney, which to me looks like a collection Catholic school girls would wear to mass not necessarily on a regular day.

Alas I have been silenced by Charlotte Ronson's Spring 2010 collection, a feat that is damn near impossible to achieve. The collection is fun, flirty, feminine, flowery, and any other F word you can think of that's a synonym for fabulous (fancy?). In my opinion the clothing, although sometimes a bit sheer, was completely wearable. Even the shoulder padded tops were bearable. Ronson's even managed to take a staple item (guaranteed to be in everyone's closet this fall), like biker shorts, and revamp them with tulle. [style.com]
