"Among other things, you’ll find that you’re not the first person who was ever confused and frightened and even sickened by human behavior. You’re by no means alone on that score, you’ll be excited and stimulated to know. Many, many men have been just as troubled morally and spiritually as you are right now. Happily, some of them kept records of their troubles. You’ll learn from them"
JD Salinger (The Catcher in the Rye)

The Catcher in the Rye is one of my favorite books. People keep dropping like flies out here. Sad...

i cried.

Didn't get to watch the 'Hope for Haiti Now' telethon that aired last night, but I did get a chance to donate to help Haiti recover from their horrible earthquake. Justin Timberlake and Matt Morris outdid themselves and had the best performance of the evening covering "Hallelujah". I have so many covers of this in my iTunes it's hard to keep up, but this one definitely outshines them all. Speaking of iTunes, they have a album with all the performances from the broadcast for only $7.99 USD. 100% of the proceeds go directly to helping relief efforts in Haiti.

This may be a bit unremarkable to the naked eye, but seriously, how many times have you forgotten to do simple things like check the expiration date on that bottle of ketchup in your fridge, take your vitamins, or just to simply say F#@k it. I use to write reminders to myself on little post-it's, but this looks way cooler. Thanks Erin Hanson!

Viktor & Rolf's Spring 2010 show was beyond amazing. I'm really glad to see their tulle gowns on crack in the pages of Dazed & Confused, quite possibly one of the only magazines appropriate enough to showcase how unique their creations are. I dare someone to put this on a red carpet... [thefashionspot]

just do good work.

Givenchy Pre-Fall 2010 is amazing. That is all. If you think otherwise it's probably a good idea not to leave a comment and tell me. I'll probably end up damning you to hell and calling your mother out of her name. Just saying... [style]

I'm pretty sure I'm the only person in my circle of friends that gets amped about Proenza Schouler. Like, seriously excited. No matter the concept, the colors, or overall collection, Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough never fail to inspire me. Proenza Schouler Pre-Fall 2010. I have no words for this. Proenza Schouler continues to reign supreme in my heart. Can't wait for the Fall 2010 presentation. If this is any indication as to what their collection will be like, my mind is about to be blown.

January Jones in Lanvin at the Golden Globes. I normally do not care for this creature. I think she's a sub-par actress, and her character on Mad Men pisses me off frequently. This being said, there is no denying her beauty and the fact that her choices in red carpet attire is beyond exceptional. Even the details of the look are perfect. The headband, jewels, red lips...love! Surrounded by the nude get ups of the evening and ruffled messes, she looked polished and pristine. I swear she was the best dressed of the night. Hands down. Just another reason why Albert Elbaz is one of my hero's.

florals = spring. well duh.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Sometimes I wish the whole "florals for spring" thing would whither and die along with other things I detest like liquid leggings and the misuse of the word 'couture'. Unfortunately there's no denying the stunning H&M Garden Collection. As obvious as the whole trend is, it's ladylike and charming, two qualities I happen to fancy. There goes a paycheck...[trenddoll]

tranny chic.

I love androgynous models, or as I like to call them: tranny chic. They can be glamorous or tough, but still manage to stay impeccable beautiful. Iris Strubegger is the face of the Spring/Summer 2010 campaign for Francesco Scognamiglio looking like pure tranny chic perfection. Just look at those legs, HOLY CRAP! [fashiongonerogue]

a lyric a day.

Image and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPic
I read awhile ago about a project a friend of mine did in 2008 where he shot a self portrait everyday of that year. That's 365 photographs documenting all 365 days in his year (in case you didn't figure that out). It didn't matter where he was, or what was going on that day, he always managed to email me his daily picture. The endeavor ended up being pretty amazing, needless to say; I've always been pretty impressed with those who can discipline and commit themselves to doing the same thing everyday, even something small like take a picture of themselves. I'm way too scatterbrained for that.

Lukes Beard decided to do something similar, only this time taking a lyric from a song everyday and creating art or taking a photograph inspired by that lyric. I learned about this last week and check every day for a new lyric. Could you imagine doing this everyday? Whoa. [lukesbeard]

things i found on my computer that i should probably blog about, but find myself doing other things like watching tv.

I've started living this super lazy existence. All I do on a daily basis is work, eat, read, and sleep. Not very inspiring, and not certainly not blogworthy. I'm not sure where it came from, and I'm not certain when I'll shake this funk, but it's got to go. Like now. Today while being bored out of my mind at that place I call work, I found a bunch of amazing photographs on my desktop that I once wanted to blog about, but just never got around to actually doing. So here they are. Better late than never right?

Word to the local thugs of inspiration around the interwebs who feed my daily addiction for cool and breathtaking imagery. You are the reason why I don't fall asleep standing up. Thanks!

PS. Anyone know where I can find some inspiration? Or maybe a match to light under my ass? Damn.

you did that with a pencil?!

This is so cool. If you're creative enough you can make something out of nothing. Or in artist Maria Cristina Bellucci's case, out of jewelry out of colored pencils. This is quite possibly the greatest thing I've seen all year...yes, all 3 weeks of it. [thedonutproject]

rag & bone pre-fall 2010

Image and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPic
I'm baaaccckkkkk! Hopefully you've all had a great holiday season! Personally, the holidays are a bittersweet time for me. Not because I'm a Scrooge (I am), but more so because the entire season is overly commercialized and annoying (to say the least). I mean, the excitement is nice, but being assaulted several times by Macy's bags isn't. I'm incredibly sorry for the lack of posts, I took a forced sabbatical not only from the internet, but from blogging in general. I needed a little blogger vacation to soak up some inspirational rays, but never fear, I'm back and better than ever.

I spotted the Rag & Bone Pre-Fall looks, and needless to say I'm pretty excited. Rag & Bone is one of my favorite brands coming in second to Proenza Schouler. These pictures get me so excited for fashion week in February. Speaking of which, I can't believe 2009 went by so quickly, and it's almost time for another fashion week. Didn't we just have one? Time sure flies!

God it's good to be back!
