i really don't like you...

Photobucket
Here's more looks from the Dimepiece x Cassie collaboration. I love Dimepiece and I will continue to buy their products from here to infinity, but Cassie annoys the shit out of me. I'm sorry, I couldn't hold my tongue any longer. She gets under my skin, and I have no idea why. It's something else other than her voice that just irks the shit out of me, something I can't quite put my finger on. Is it the hair? The new 'edgy' look right before the release of her album creating hype and hoping the hype will equal skyrocketing album sales (which reminds me of Rihanna's Good Girl Gone Bad transformation)? Is it because she's involved with Bad Boy and I equate that as the label artists go to, to die? Is it because in my gut I feel like she just tries so damn hard to be 'it'. Maybe it's a combination of all those things, but in the words of Mr. Unforgivable: "I don't like you!"

And another thing, is anyone other than myself noticing how women's street wear brands are taking to celebrity endorsed/designed lines? It's fascinating that the minute Teyana Taylor becomes the face of MOB for this season, it's on ALL the major black blogs, and the second Cassie collaborates with Dimepiece the label (or rather Cassie THEN the label) ends up on not all the black blogs, but The Cut AND People magazine does an exclusive interview with the artist (and I use that in it's lightest form). I've never seen these labels on anything more than street wear related fashion blogs and the occasional magazine editorial a la Missbehave (RIP). Do we equate these endorsements and collaborations as a way for the labels to get their name in the media or something else? I personally love things that have that "I'm anything but mainstream" edge. Street wear use to be anything but mainstream to me, and that's what gave it it's charm, but now it's getting to be over exposed. Come Fall, with the help of Teyana Taylor and Cassie everyone will be draped in MOB and Dimepiece. I.will.not...

PS. This may not go over well with some, but who gives a shit. People are so quick to jump on bandwagons and not develop their own feelings about a product or a person. I have an opinion. Please deal with that...

PPS. Cassie said she made her hair cut mainstream in the People magazine interview. I just want to open hand slap all the girls that went out and did this after Cassie to make her feel this way (*cough Lala cough*) We the people give a resounding: NOOOOOOOOOOO [Alice Dellal, Kelis, JDavey, and Kesh come slap this chick]..

Ok. I will be purchasing that sweat shirt, and Uncle Karl tee post haste...

easter has come early.

kanye west's jump off, i mean love interest amber rose was seen sporting her normal buzz cut this time with a turquoise hue added. not sure if i'm absolutely loving this on her, she kind of looks like an Easter egg, but her initial look DID have to grow on me, so we'll see. i have to admit, her skin looks amazing, really digging her glow, but dear Lord does she love her some spandex...

dear cassie. this is how you do edgy.

"Shaving the side of ones head is equivalent to the nose ring" - Sarah Morrison

Recently celebrities, and wannabe celebrities have been taking to shaving the sides of their heads to appear edgy or cutting edge. Nothing wrong with this at all, do what you want, but it takes much more than a hair cut to give you some edge. It takes a certain attitude or swagger, for lack of a better word, to boost your ratings in the fashion forward department.

HOT DYAMN!

Let me first and foremost begin this post by saying that I am in no way shape or form a Beyonce hater. Even though about 40% of her music moves me, I still believe in the power that is Sasha Fierce. Now that that's aside I will proceed with my laughter...

I guess today the Today show decided to leak audio of Beyonce which happens to be SUPER unflattering. And my unflattering I mean horrible. And by horrible I mean WTF?! Yea check out the video below of Queen B singing 'If I Were A Boy' and then proceed to pick up your face off the dirty ground.

Yes, it's THAT bad...

nikon D5000 DSLR camera.

My (blank) birthday is coming up in about a month, and I've been searching for things to ask my family and close friends to cop for me since I'm obviously a broke college student. I'm normally pretty modest when it comes to my birthday, usually I'm the friend that's completely indecisive about what she wants. It's really because if I want something I'll save up for it myself, but this year I'm making a list and this camera is numero uno.

I've been searching for a nice SLR camera for quite awhile. I'm a picture whore, and the more I delve into my creative side the more I find the need for a quality professional camera. I'm just trying to figure out if $843 USD is too much money. My Dad will probably loose a kidney when he see's the price tag...LOL...So that's why I'm asking my sister!

But isn't it so pretty?!

come on now.

Andy Warhol once said "Art is what you can get away with...". I'm not sure this is what he meant. L.A. based pop artist Sham Ibrahim has created these Andy Warhol-ish paintings with non other than Rihanna's mug shot...the aftermath of the alleged Chris Brown attack. Yea, I'm not sure this was such a great idea. What does everyone else think?

i want to go to there.

Topshop USA opened it's doors officially in Soho today. I'm sick with excitement and anxiety because this means every time I step into New York even for a second I have go and look at all the pretty clothes. Even though I can only afford the lint off the Kate Moss collection...Sad.

I want these! May get them for my (blank) birthday. Yeeeessssss!

is it bullet proof?

Being that my awesome sister is forking over some pesos so I can get a new Nike Wind Runner for my birthday, I made my way to the Nike Sportswear site to browse and pick which one I want. While I'm there checking prices (uh..it's a recession) and seeing which styles would compliment all my kicks, I ran into this:
Yea, I know what you're thinking. 'But D, that's just a jacket, whats the big deal?!' Welp the big deal is that while ALL of the other windbreakers featured on Nike's website range in prices from $80 - $110 this little shit of a jacket is a whooping $395. No that is not a typo...the shit is almost $400. What fuckery is this?!

While I'm sure there are those out there who look at this as cheap and affordable, I cannot sit back and keep quiet. If you didn't know IT'S A DAMN RECESSION GOING ON RIGHT NOW. Who in the hell can even afford this? Shit like this pisses me off, I hate how you have to pay so much for something so small. I love love LOVE streetwear and independent designers, but why O WHY must you all be so expensive?

My homegirl Bri said it best:
Am I just trippin? Would any of you pay this much for a jacket?

for the girl who has everything. except hair.

I've seen some messed up things in my day.
But nothing...I repeat...NOTHING compares to this Tom Fuckery...
Yes your eyes are not deceiving you. These are Baby Bangs, the patent pending creation of one of God's creatures. Who ever that creature is, they need to sit the hell down ASAP.

Why must I cry?!

I couldn't help myself...
