I just had a conversation with a friend about whether or not Lady Gaga is coming for Madonna's throne. After watching Madonna on the new NBC show 'The Marriage Ref' and then watching Gaga's 'Telephone' video, I think it's pretty apparent who's running shit now. I love Madge, but Gaga's got it going on...
Lady Gaga dedicates her performance at the Brit Awards to Alexander McQueen. It's only right, since she's just about the only person (other than Daphne Guinness) who could pull off a McQueen look straight from the runway. She's done it before, and very well might I add. I'm in serious awe of Gaga's performances. I'd pay a arm, leg, and left tit to see her perform live, especially because she's sounds just as good (if not better) that she does on album. Can't say that for everyone, now can we?
I wish I could walk out of my house in a lace bra and panties with a matching cover all. Only problem is with the sub zero temperature making it's way to my hometown plus the inevitable blank stares I'll rack up, I'm a little weary of getting naked for fashions sake. But I CAN see this on Lady Gags, mostly because she's allergic to pants and seems to be inviting everyone in on the pants-less fun. Maybe the bras and panties aren't an option, but the cardigans, sheer tops, and tanks with braided embellishments are staples I'd make room in my closet for. How about you? [stylebubble, claretough]
Lady Gaga is actually REALLY good for fashion. She's one of the few people that isn't directly involved in the fashion, but seems to understand and appreciate the industry as an art form. Boldly using clothing as a form of expression, and being outrageous doesn't work for everyone, but it seems to suit Gaga very well. Although sometimes I think she hits the crack pipe before dressing in the morning, even her most ridiculous ensembles seem suit her personality.
I wasn't going to post her music video for Bad Romance, I wasn't even going to watch it, but when I got word that she was wearing Alexander McQueen Spring 2010 I had to see his vision beyond the runway. She's just about the only person I can think of that can get away with wearing those 12 inch platforms, and not look utterly ridiculous. The fact that she's wearing something that's not necessarily trendy or popular, but portrays fashion as an art is incredibly inspiring. I think she's breathing a bit of new life into a industry most people deem to be superficial. Bravo Gaga!
