so you think you're a fashion blogger eh?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I have always hated being called a 'fashion blogger'.

I have nothing against 'fashion bloggers', but I'd like to believe I blog about more than what shows up on Hypebeast or Sea of Shoes. I don't have a million dollars from my parents to spend on ridiculous items I'll only wear for 'ironic' photoshoots, fluttering about in vintage around very 'urban' scenery. I don't care about being in Vogue, or being bothered to be 'seen' at New York fashion week. I don't want to be a model. Or use my 'fashion blog' to get a job with a major magazine.

I'm probably being rude.

I learned a long time ago that somewhere along the line people will always try to put you in a box. Oh, you like posting interesting 'clothes/shoe/accessories' found around the internet and in your home town? FASHION BLOGGER. Is that all I have to be for one simple title? Kill me.

Whatever happened to just enjoying fashion because of design. Or loving art. Or typography. Or photography. Or color theory. Or thinkers, movers, shakers, and the like?

Totally getting this shirt.

the rudest night in music.

Kanye West effectively showed us all that he has absolutely no class.

I'm pretty sure the internet will be on fire updating you all on what took place during this years Video Music Awards. For the most part, the recaps won't be about the excellent Michael Jackson tribute performed by his sister Janet, and it won't be about Lady Gaga's disturbing rendition of "Paparazzi" either. Tomorrow your inbox's, twitter pages, blog feeds, and facebook's will all be focused on yet another of Kanye West's classless outbursts.

There is so much I could say right now but I'm pretty sure I'd come off as a judgmental bitch, so I'll end with this: If you don't challenge a person to change, they never will. Kanye West and ALL of his outbursts are unacceptable, and classless. Tonight I've read so many tweets and blog comments where people are excusing his blatant ignorance because 1) he's just Kanye and 2) they aren't into Taylor Swifts music. UNACCEPTABLE. Respect is respect.

I know that he's given away awards of his because he felt someone better deserved them, but we can't expect everyone to do that. Especially because as an artist you should be your biggest fan. Whose to say Taylor Swift thought she actually deserved that award. We shouldn't shrug off this obvious insult as "Kanye just being Kanye". If that's the case, Kanye needs to grow the fuck up. There's this little thing called tact, and he basically showed us he has none.

PS. I have so much more respect for Beyonce now than I ever have in the past. Forget how I feel about her music and her acting (cough), she's a class act for sure.

PPS. His apology is wack sauce. How do you apologize and then try to justify your actions as you just being a fan of pop culture? GTFOH!

the swagga shoe. who thought this was a good idea?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
This is one of those things that make you stop and ask yourself "Is this really happening?"....

Day 26, the band of boys put together by hit maker (pause and let that soak in for a moment) Sean P Diddy Combs, has released a shoe for it's predominately female fan base called the 'Swagga Shoe'. No I'm not joking, it's really called that. The shoe is apart of a line of footwear created by the group called Eight 2 Six (nice play on words and numbers guys!) and is specifically being sold at Heels.com has left me with many questions.

1) Why? - I'd like to open hand slap anyone who thought this Roberto Cavalli esq shoe (circa 2000) was a good idea. With powder. For starters this shoe is $99.99 but looks as though it should be on the sale rack at Forever XXI. Secondly, is the red sole a la Christian Louboutin suppose to make me believe this is a luxury item? Really? Is there some sort of contract artists sign stating that on top of their duty as mediocre hit makers they are also to design something...anything really. Seems like in order to be a designer one must first release an album.

2) Swagga? - Are people still using this word? I thought it we'd replaced it with something more suitable and not so dried out and over used. Once upon a time swagga (or in perfect grammar: SWAGGER) was something people aspired to, that thing that put you on another stratosphere of cool. Now when I hear swagga or see a product associated with the word my gag reflexes go into overdrive. I seriously throw up a bit in my mouth.

3) Fans? - I'm not really a Diddy band fan, this includes Day 26 and excludes the Danity Kane albums I have stashed under my bed (hence the 'not really' a fan thing), therefore this shoe does nothing for my excitement level. Surprisingly enough (or not so surprisingly depending on who you ask), when I looked up the reactions of the Day 26 female fan base most of the women instantly fell head over heels (pun intended) for this product. But I've got to ask: was it because of the shoe itself or were they having visions of Q's lips and Willies 8 pack? Do these women really love this shoe, or the men that have their name stamped on it? Hmmm

If you love this Swagga (gag) Shoe you can purchase the product at Heels.com. It also comes in a iradecent silver and black (plastic)leather.

mom. i wanna be like sasha fierce.

Arriving in stores just in time for back to school season, Beyonce and her Mama were so inspired by Sasha Fierce that they decided to create what some would call a capsule collection for their clothing line House of Dereon directly inspired by Beyonce's imaginary friend. Being that this collection should be ready for the back to school shopping season, I'm left to ask this rather important question to parents and young adults alike:

Question: Would you let your child walk out of your house in these Sasha Fierce like creations? Really?

wives of famous athletes wear the darnest things.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

I've had a bone to pick with Vanessa Bryant ever since I saw her in a jersey, purple tutu, leggings, a leather jacket, and ankle boots...ALL AT ONCE. I've never understood her style. Seeing as she is the wife of one of the most accomplished athletes of our time, you think she'd look a little better stepping out of the house, right? Yea, well I thought that too...

I was talking to some guy friends who love playing my antagonist in situations like these. These said friends couldn't understand why I was being so hard on Vanessa Bryant. I mean after all, maybe she's not so much into fashion like I am, maybe she doesn't know the awkward way she dresses herself is indeed WRONG, maybe she just doesn't care...Well, you know what, I hope she doesn't care. I hope that the Manolo's, the tutu's, the bedazzled jeresy dresses circa 1999, and the sequin body suit with her tata's hanging out for the world to see, make her happy. Because if it does, that means those hideous outfits actually meant something. I doubt it though...

If you look hard enough your eyes will burn.
(Ok that was mean...sorry)

all this because she's a size 6?

Lara Stone in Balmain & Stella McCartney

It has been confirmed today that one of fashions newest 'It' girls Lara Stone is indeed a size 6. Before you gag on your tongue, I think it's only fair that we evaluate what this actually means. I think it's rather amusing that people in the fashion industry expect women to be a size 0-2 (sample sizes right?) and to also be awkwardly tall. That is something I've never been able to understand about this industry, not only does it produce horrible body images for younger women, it also causes women of all ages to have unrealistic ideas about what beauty really is. Its been like this for years, so what am I complaining about, right?

I find it fascinating that some media outlets are marveling at the fact that Lara Stone is a US size 6. Yes it's very unusual to find that in high fashion, and yes it's pretty cool she's able to open and close couture shows like Chanel without hassle to slim down. She's able to still have an awesome career walking in shows for the likes of Hermes, Anna Sui, and even my favorite Givenchy, but good gumbo, people act like she's not thin as is. I'm currently 5' 5" and a size 6. Lara has about 5 inches on me and is also a size 6. Although I'm on the small side, if you take my body and stretch it out 5 inches I'd still be super thin. Get it?

Truth be told, I'd rather be her size that some of these other models. They sometimes look malnutured. At least she looks like she enjoys a good burger every now and then. I'm just saying.

Spencer Pratt is the White Jay Z?

Disclaimer: Please excuse the hatred that is coming from my mouth. I totally mean harm.

In a recent interview former Hills crackhead, I mean 'STAR', Spencer Pratt sat down with that station that use to be about music, I mean, MTV to discuss the idiot plan someone had to make him a rap star. Yes, you read that correct. RAP STAR. As in Biggie, Tupac, Public Enemy, Kanye West, and Jay Z for that matter. The controversial shit stain goes as far as to say that HE is the white Jay Z.
"I'm the white Jay-Z in the game. I'm doing the baller thing. I'm more for the streets."
If I could copy and past all the fuckery that he spewed in that attempt of an interview without getting in trouble I would, but for now please visit HERE to read the entire thing. It's demeaning, disgusting, and down right SAD that this fool thinks he is the next great white hope. While legitimate lyricists are out here on the grind just to get even a fraction of the shine that this guy has for no reason at all, he's talking out the side of his mouth.

Word to the wise Spencer Pratt.
  • If you quote Gucci and Soulja Boy as the only rappers you look up to: there is something wrong.
  • If you even think about comparing yourself to Jay Z when he happens to be one of the greatest lyricists of our time: there is something wrong.
  • If you refer to yourself and your wife as the 'new age Biggie and Lil Kim': there is something wrong.
  • If you even THINK you want to go 'after the ringtone game': there is something wrong.
  • If you even dare to bring back the 'baller mentality' to the rap game, you are sadly mistaken. That went out in 1999 just like throw back jeresys and: there is something wrong.
EPIC FAIL.

opening ceremony needs to have a seat.

Chloe Sevigny is a big girl crush of mine so when I heard that she was doing a capsule collection with Opening Ceremony I got chills. Literally. Her style is undefined so the fact that she was sharing this with the world made me extremely happy. Until about right now...

Opening Ceremony, although it's an Ok place to purchase clothing, is often times OVER PRICED. And that is an understatement. Tee from Trend Doll and I have had numerous Twitter conversations about their lack of understanding that normal people will not and can not pay upwards of $200+ for staple items that can be purchased for less than $10 at a Forever XXI Crackhouse. It's never really gotten under my skin until today.

The retail whores are selling the Chloe Sevigny buckled wedge shoe for a retarded price of $695. No you read that correct.

Dear Opening Ceremony: WHAT ARE YOU ON?!

no home training.

With life kicking me in the rear end, I haven't had much time or energy to blog like I should be. But there's nothing like a good WTF story to give me the motivation I need to put my fingers to the key board and place my two cents in the piggy bank called opinions. So here it goes...

Yesterday upon waking up late for work (again), I did my normal rounds on the bloggesphere and landed on a gem of epic proportions via The Young Black & Fabulous. The weirdest group of people EVER to be associated with one another decided to live it up and bring an animal along for the ride. While rappers Yung Joc and DMX, along with comedian Katt Williams hung out at Joc's St. Louis penthouse apartment, an argument broke out as to who would consume the last line of cocaine (EPIC SIDE EYE) the group was sharing. Katt Williams then decided to feed it to his German Shepard (blink, pause, side eye, blank stare, WTF!), and while all the shits and giggles went down, the dog decided to go ape shit and attack Yung Joc. Dude ended up having to get 72 stiches for the fuckery. And thats not even the worse part. The worse part is that this fool TWITTERED during the ENTIRE THING.

What the hell are people on...Like SERIOUSLY.

Have we really gotten to the point where we do stupid things for the sake of fun? Whoever thought it would be a good idea to give a DOG COCAINE needs to be bitch slapped ASAP. And if it was Katt Williams who made the decision, can we really trust that dude's judgment. Wasn't he the one that talked all that shit and got bitch slapped in the back of a club? Come on now....
