you did that with a pencil?!

This is so cool. If you're creative enough you can make something out of nothing. Or in artist Maria Cristina Bellucci's case, out of jewelry out of colored pencils. This is quite possibly the greatest thing I've seen all year...yes, all 3 weeks of it. [thedonutproject]

the covet shop.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
When I interned in San Francisco I lived two doors away from a Goodwill. Some of you may turn your nose up at this, but this Goodwill was beyond amazing. My first day walking through I bought a Oscar de la Renta pencil skirt, and a YSL bag all for $150. I don't even think I can BREATHE around a YSL bag for $150! As you can see, I'm a big fan of thrifting. Although I'm not as good at it as some of my friends (it's really a gift), I've come to appreciate the art of it all bit more. You can really find some amazing things in consignment shops if you have the time to search. I'm not a person whose patience is in tip top form, therefore my thrift shop hunts only occur once a season. For those of you like me who just don't feel like looking for treasure, there's still hope!

The Covet Shop is a high end consignment shop which launched about three months ago, specializing in rare vintage finds from big name designers like Gucci, Chanel, Yves St Laurent, and so on. Started by a fashion industry vet and her graphic designer of a husband, the website was created not only to make it a bit easier on those of us too lazy to search vintage shops, but also for consigners who want to make a little room in their designer filled closet by recycling their treasures essentially giving them a second life.

So the next time you don't feel like looking through a pot of crap for that one piece of gold, check out the Covet Shop. Oh, and make sure you get something for me as well. Just saying...

Never been one for porn unless it involved my major weakness which happens to be shoes. And let's face it, who makes porn centered around footwear? Not Jenna Jameson, although if she did I'd respect her a bit more. Umm Acne is climbing the ladder to the inner workings of my heart very quickly. Major shoe pornography going on here. MAJOR! Aside from the wedges a lot of the heels Acne created for this upcoming spring season are thinner than a pencil and higher than a kite. I hope the stiletto isn't coming back, especaially when I was just beginning to really love the chunky heel. Their so much more realistic and comfortable...::le sigh::

rachel roy for macy's.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I've been waiting impatiently for Rachel Roy to release her collection of goods for Macy's. So impatiently in fact, that I've been scouring the website for months looking for it. Just when I'd given up all hope, I get an email from a friend stating that she's just bought the most amazing accessories from Roy's collection on, you guessed it, Macy's website! Of all the collaborations going on this year, I'm really pleased to say that Rachel Roy went above and beyond any of my expectations. The prices range anywhere from $200 to only $18 with an assortment of shoes, clothing, outerwear, and my favorite accessories. So get over there and start buying before it's all gone!

evidence of my sick imagination: america the gift shop.

Photobucket
I'm fully aware that I have a unique sense of humor only shared by individuals who don't take themselves seriously and use sarcasm as much as they use toilet paper. There aren't very many of us around so my jokes and snide remarks about everything tend to fall on deaf ears and are normally met with a stank eye. I saw these pictures awhile ago, they were shot by photographer Phillip Toledano back in 2008 who had the most awesome concept ever: If America was a gift shop what would it sell?

Just so we're all on the same cultural page, these pictures were in response to the alleged ill treatment of prisoners in places like Guatanamo Bay. Now that the history lesson is over, lets get back at the hilarity at hand: how awesome are these shirts? There's so much more where this came from, I would have posted them, but their too sordid, and I didn't want to scare anyone into thinking I was a total lunatic, so if you've got a good personality, need a chuckle or two, and actually understand the art of sarcasm, take a look at Phillip's portfolio.

spotted: house of holland graduate tights.

Photobucket
I can always count on Henry Holland from House of Holland to create fun colorful items I always manage spending too much money on. I spotted these tights in black, white, and cream over at My Tights, but before I paid the affordable price of $14.00, I wanted to see them in the other colors (there isn't a preview on the website). Thanks to cuteness of Susie over at Style Bubble, I got to see the blue and purple in action.

high class shit by alexander mcqueen.

Photobucket
I'm currently obsessing over Alexander McQueen's obvious fascination with skulls. His accessories are draped in them, making what once was a grunge, punk, and metal head staple high fashion. So dark and lovely...

aldo x swarovski: sparkle done right.

Photobucket
Affordable footwear and accessory retailer Aldo has teamed up with Swarovski Crystals to design a collection of sparkly jewels just in time for winter 2009. Items ranging from bangles, necklaces, rings, all the way to headbands will retail from $40 to about $180. I love Aldo for their accessories, I can almost always find something I like that's reasonably priced and incredibly long lasting. I have much better luck buying from there than somewhere like Forever XXI. Every time I buy costume jewelry from XXI it has a way of falling apart before I get it home... [refinery29]

places i need to eat when in nyc: fatty crab.

Photobucket
I'm a huge fan of food. No one can ever say I'm one of those girls that don't like to eat, because that is a lie that will never be true. Aside from the Food Network being one of my favorite channels of meaningless television to watch, and counting Paula Dean as someone who I'd like to be friends with, I also really love reading food and restaurant guides. There are so many amazing blogs out there totally dedicated to experimenting with various cultural eateries. One of my favorites Bionic Bites recently reviewed a restaurant in New York called Fatty Crab.

The cool thing about Fatty Crab, besides it's laid back atmosphere is that you can act like a 4 year old child and eat everything with your hands. Knives and forks aren't permitted, and sharing is definitely encouraged. All entrees are meant to be shared and come out as they're ready. Just imagine a table with a couple of friends and tons of food. Perfect.

I'm making a list of places I want to eat with my friend Katya when I visit/intern/probably stay forever in New York this January, with Fatty Crab is right at the top of that list. Anyone know any other delicious places to dine or snack in NYC? Put it in the comments so it can go on my list!

topshop never fails.

Photobucket
They never fail to make me want to go into debt is what I meant. Meet the apple of my eye as of late: Topshop's Beaded Shift Dress makes me want to whip out that "emergency" credit card and add to bag as quickly as possible. If only that were possible, the $410 price tag is making it very hard. Very hard....

Going in a corner to weep now...

thank you riccardo tisci.

Photobucket
Givenchy is one of those brands I aspire to be able to wear, let alone afford. The designs of Riccardo Tisci and team never fail to bring out a gleeful squeal from the inner most parts of my soul. Beginning this October Tisci will be designing a capsule collection of staples including their classic white blouse with embellished additions such as studs and appliques. The price line for this collection will be tame at best, (depending on what you consider tame) with pieces starting at 200 euros (about 290 USD). The collection will show twice a year during the pre-Fall, pre-Spring seasons beginning in October.

take a good look @ me cus i'm sailing on a boat.

Photobucket
This boat is amazing. Named the Schopfer Oculus, after it's designer E. Kevin Schopfer who owns the company Schopfer Yachts LLC, yacht is about 250 ft long, can comfortably fit about 14 guests, and is styled to look like an underwater sea mammal in case you hadn't already figured that out. I can only imagine how much this costs, but I'm guessing it's more than a kidney...One can only dream...

what's up doc?

Photobucket
There are very few things that excite me to the point of combustion. Food, magazines, the occasional drunken night, AND SHOES...glorious SHOES, beautiful SHOES, I LOVE SHOES!

Ok, I'm done.

With the 50th Anniversary of Doc Marten quickly approaching on January 4th, the brand decided to have several designers redecorate the classic 1460 boot (which is Doc Martens birthday by the way) any way they deemed fit. So what did these designers do? They went crazy, and I LOVE crazy! You won't be able to purchase the designer decorated boots, but feel free to do it yourself decorate away at home. The Edian Ronay (ribbon shoe laces), and Preen boots (burgundy with green paint and bedazzlements) are by far my favorite of the bunch.

Thanks Jessie!

who plays dress up anymore?

Photobucket
Looklet.com is practically the best way to play dress up on the internet. With very life like dolls (or rather models) the site has thousands of garments from YSL to Chanel available for you to mix and match any way your heart desires. I've been playing with the beta site for a couple of months now, and I can honestly attest to the fact that it's not only a great way to waste time, but it's made me think of new ways to mix and match my clothing. Above are some of the 35 outfits I've put together using the site. I'm good, right?!

It's back to school time already? Wow. Summer went by too quickly and very uneventfully to say the least, but at least I can act like a student by taking part in one of my favorite past times: Back to School Shopping. Yays!

First on my list are all the goodies listed above. I need nothing else.
