clare tough spring 2010.

Image and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPic
I wish I could walk out of my house in a lace bra and panties with a matching cover all. Only problem is with the sub zero temperature making it's way to my hometown plus the inevitable blank stares I'll rack up, I'm a little weary of getting naked for fashions sake. But I CAN see this on Lady Gags, mostly because she's allergic to pants and seems to be inviting everyone in on the pants-less fun. Maybe the bras and panties aren't an option, but the cardigans, sheer tops, and tanks with braided embellishments are staples I'd make room in my closet for. How about you? [stylebubble, claretough]

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Although I really hate reading gossip sites, I can't ever stop myself from seeking their slimy knowledge (cough) every solitary day from the inner sanctums of my bedroom after my first cup of coffee and before I take a shower. With that being said, you can learn a lot from gossip blogs. Not that any of the information they claim to have found should be taken serious, but you can learn more reading those seedy sites, than any watered down magazine. Today I learned that GIANT magazine has closed their doors for good. I'm not entirely sure if it's true, but if it is this disturbs me for various reasons:

1) When I decided that I wanted to work for a magazine I made a list of the top ten publications I'd like to start and finish my career at. Of these ten publications, three (Missbehave, Vibe, and now GIANT) have already shut down. What's a girl to do?! Vogue may be the job "a million girls would kill for", but I've never been one of those girls. It seems limited and a little far fetched. Plus I think Vogue is boring and repetitive (don't act like it isn't true).

2) As we all know the age of print publication is dying. Actually, I think it's cold dead body is already in the ground. We can't even blame it on the economy anymore, people just aren't buying magazines like they use too. That scares me because I relied heavily on magazines such as GIANT, Missbehave, and Vibe for inspiration, and now that they're gone it makes me wonder whose next, Complex? Interview?

I think a lot of people would be surprised at how many magazines I have just laying around my house. I collect them, I keep them, I reference them. I've got stacks of Vanity Fair, NYMag, Interview, V, and W magazines covering the walls of my bedroom keeping me company. I even framed the cover of the last issue of Missbehave...I'm THAT crazy.

R.I.P. GIANT. You may be gone, but the three years of issues I've got laying beside my bed will keep me company until you return.

I'm going to go cry now.

I've got a digital SLR which I absolutely adore, but my heart, (and obviously not my bank account) is still longing for a Leica. Not that I would even know what to do with it, but it's something I'd like to say I own one, maybe even wear it around my neck for show. Leica cameras are already super expensive (about $5,000 a piece); and their rumored collaboration camera with luxury brand Hermes retailing at $14,000 makes the hair on my neck stand on end. The very special edition M7 camera comes in silver chrome with calfskin leather accents in two colors. Not that it matters or anything, but for those of you with bulging pockets and limitless credit lines, the Leica M7 Hermes camera will be available in the UK sometime in December.

Add this to the list of Christmas gifts I'll be able to afford in 10 years...[LOUDreams]

Need cash fast? Won't have any extra until your pay check arrives at work? It's simple, hop on line and take out some payday loans, and have that Leica in no time! Best part is, they're care-free!

hellz bellz spring 2010.

I swear, Twitter is the best thing to ever happen to my life. I find out information ten times faster than before I knew Twitter existed. Now instead of scouring the internet for interesting information, I can just follow all the brands, celebrities, friends and family I love and get the inside scope in 140 characters or less. Thank Jesus for Twitter!

Just a few minutes ago, while I was yelling at my television and tweeting (or is it twatting?) my friend Kevin, I received an interesting tweet from Hellz Bellz which led me to Limitè Magazine's Guide to Spring 2010. The guide then led me to a peek at *SURPRISE* the Hellz Bellz Spring 2010 collection! This is both a good and bad thing. Good because I'll have ample time to count my pennies, cross my fingers, and say my prayers long enough to get the goods, and bad because the collection just makes me want sunnier days and warmer weather that much more. I'm glad Hellz is opening up to different shapes and a cleaner palette. I guess the days of graphic tees are almost over. It's really great to see brands evolve.

ohhhh holy h&m.

Just spotted more pictures from H&M's Spring 2010 collection, only this time Swedish stylist and blogger Caroline got a peek into the retailer's main showroom to give us a look at accessories and other odds and ends not shown in the pictures I posted previously. Finally H&M seems to be getting on the four finger ring bandwagon, I've never been a huge fan of their accessories, but I'm impressed at how much their designs have grown in that area. Their starting to remind me of a cheaper version of Topshop, and that isn't a bad thing at all. Cheaper is always better when you're in the middle of a recession! [carolinesmode]

hellz yeah!

I'd heard awhile ago the Hellz Bellz was teaming up with Reebok to design a shoe, but at the time I didn't know what to make of the collaboration. The news of the partnership, and especially the design of the footwear, was kept on the low, so much in fact I'd forgotten they'd even created a shoe to begin with. But alas the Hellz Bellz x Reebok shoe is real, and it's not at all what I expected. Featuring a fold down flap displaying a bit of Hellz propaganda, stud detailing, and a set of interchangeable shoe strings (black, white, neon yellow), the sneaker is definitely a step in a wonderful direction for Hellz Bellz. If you'd like to get your hands on these, they'll be available in limited quantities beginning November 27th at select retailers, as well as the Hellz online store. [whatthehellz]

a peace treaty on sale @ cutdrop.

One of my favorite accessory brands that I can never ever ever ever afford, A Peace Treaty is having a sale on Cutdrop.com benefiting Counterpart. I'm definitely taking advantage of this 50% discount; Peace Treaty has a habit of being very expensive seeing as all their scarves are hand made and PERFECT. So now is the time to get a piece of this action! [cutdrop]

via Unurth: "Isaac Cordal's series, 'Cement Eclipses', places expressive human figures in odd circumstances around the urban environment." Amazing installment, but it reminds me a bit of the piece I posted awhile ago about the Fame festival in Italy. Still, it's pretty sweet.

Nina Sky has got to be the most underestimated "girl group" in history. I've always been a big fan of the twin duo, but I've also always thought they were under appreciated. They write their own music, perform their own music, have a unique style and a strong voice, and unlike a lot of the popular artists representing our age group they aren't a gimmick. I'm really excited to hear their sophomore effort Starting Today, the material they've already leaked has been amazing. I just wish more people were hip now instead of waiting for them to blow up. And trust me, they'll be blowing up soon. If they don't it'll solidify my theory that our society is filled with idiots. [relentlessnyc]

I don't even have much to say about these photos of what's to come from H&M this spring, but what I do have to say can be sum up in these four little words: CAN'T.F**CKING.WAIT. H&M gets it every time. There's so many things just in these stills that I can see in my closet. Best part about it, is that with H&M you can always predict the price points, and even their most expensive items are attainable. Those blazers will me mine! Spring can't come quick enough...

i can't wait to see this.

Nine is a movie about a film director trying to find harmony in his professional and personal life as he struggles with the relationships he has with several women. The cast list alone made me want to jump for joy with people like Sophia Loren, Judi Dench, Fergie, Kate Hudson, Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz and many more singing, dancing, and acting a damn fool throughout. Plus it's directed by Rob Marshall the director of Chicago, which happens to be a great film. It's no secret that the little Liza Minnelli in me is a sucker for a good musical and this is about to feed my appetite big time. In theaters worldwide Christmas day, this is definitely a must see!

the new jodie foster?

Image and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPic
Dakota Fanning was a awkward looking child. Overlapping teeth, thin hair, bug eyes. People use to get so mad when I said that, but come on, it's true. She's a brilliant actress, probably even more brilliant because she had her first big film and a matching Golden Globe nomination by the time she was seven. Unlike Emma Watson, who was that cute kid you knew would translate into a beautiful woman; Dakota has grown into her looks seemingly overnight. At only 15 she's a knockout!
Image and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPic
Word has it she's done a Natalie Portman, and actually goes to a regular high school where she's a varsity cheerleader. Nothings cooler than when younger celebrities don't get wrapped up in the glitz and glamour and decide to lead normal lives. I'm thinking about going against everything I believe in and breaking down to see Twilight just because she's in it. Lord knows I wouldn't pay ten bucks to see anyone else in that film. [zimbo]

PS. Those shoes are sickkkkk!

sam edelman: the joss boot.

Image and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPic
I tend to want things sometimes. Normally these things are far beyond my financial reach, inevitably causing disappointment, but eventually I get over it because 9 times out of 10 I find something else I want that I can actually afford, then just buy that. With that being said, because my career as a freelance journalist/writer/professional smart ass has been going extremely well, I'm able to buy the things I can afford and even sometimes the items beyond my reach. Enter: the Sam Edelman Joss Boot currently at $180 on Shoe Box New York. Dying!!!!! I love them. I want them. Add to fuggin bag.

I love Pepper & Pistol. I have a couple of their tops from sample sales, and I love them immensely. I just got a glimpse of their new Spring 2010 collection and it's pretty much perfect. Casual but with the possibility of being dressed up, structured, but not too stiffly, and the draping is impeccable. I'm especially excited about those leggings. How would you wear those? Hmm [pepper&pistol]

r.i.p. daul kim.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Korean supermodel Daul Kim died today rather unexpectedly seeing as she was only 20 years young. I've always had a thing for two types of models: the androgynous and the Asian. Daul Kim, like her long legged counter part Liu Wen, was one of my favorites, not simply because she was Asian, but more so because she had a personality which made her more appealing. I'm very sad about this...

miracles are real.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Nicholas Kirkwood is a genius when it comes to sky high footwear a select few can actually afford to wear, while the rest of us sit at our computers and dream of the bunions and potential callouses we're missing out on. Or maybe that's just me. Anyway, all genius aside, one of the most powerful footwear designers of our time has ventured into an arena I happen to love: FLATS! For those of us not too keen on the idea of 6 and 7 inch heels, good ol' Nicky has created a few pairs of flat shoes for us to also over. Right now the few pairs of oxfords and mary janes are being sold in the UK. No word when the shoes will be hitting the states, but when they do I'll be first in line to cry over what I can't have. Sad... [thethread]

married to the mob finally steps it up.

Image and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPic
I'm not sure what it is, the new photographer (David Perez), the slight departure from the verbal assults splashed across brightly colored tee's, or the fact that this Holiday collection doesn't remind me of a 15 year old high school student with attitude problems, but Married to the Mob might have actually done the unthinkable: GROWN UP. It's no secret that I've had a tumultuous Chris Brown/Rihanna type relationship with the street wear brand. About a year ago I was a devoted follower sporting aforementioned tshirts proudly and without shame, but that was before I started noticing the intense similarities in every collection they released. It was like a fiesta of remixed denim, outerwear, and of course that damn tshirt, fit for that overly aggressive bitch in all of us. I got bored with it.

Not even 5 minutes ago, Married to the Mob released photos of their Holiday 2009 collection via their blog Mob Living. Aside from the fact that I can't believe it's time for holiday collections, this serving from MOB is probably one of their best. Heavy on sweaters, and general outerwear, the collection consists cable knit sweaters, an assortment of insane leggings, studded tees, and surprisingly a collection of rugby inspired shirts. I haven't bought a MOB piece in a very long time, but I think it's time for us to mend our broken love with the use of my credit card. [MOBLiving]
